Relax...
...all is well...
you
are lovely and you are loved
and
tomorrow will be a perfect day
They are designed to be played at bed time or any time when sleep, a
rest or simply a snug atmosphere is required. They say: just listen and
let all those other senses switch off so that your body can relax into
a dreamy state heading towards sleep.
Difficulties Sleeping
Sometimes being a child (and a parent!) can be a bit tough and while we
do not claim that a Sounds Dreamy bedtime story can resolve or cure all
sleep-related issues, we do believe that the comfort and relaxation that
they provide may help reduce anxieties or stress and so encourage a peaceful
sleep. Naturally, a healthcare professional can give you more
advice on sleep issues if you would like such support. Also our Helpful
Hints section includes a few websites you may find useful.
Playing
time
- Each CD is approximately 40 minutes long
- It can be played in its entirety as a whole story
- It can be played track-by-track for a smaller sleepy section
- Just one poem or song can be selected
Age Groups
Children's tastes and interests differ. So whilst we offer guidelines
on each CD we have allowed a generous overlap into each age category.
So, as a guide only:
- 1-4 Years
Language here is just right for the younger listener. The dialogue
and setting are simple and familiar. Our main story is shorter in duration
and we add an extra lulling poem-song which may be played separately
if desired
- 3-6 Years
Here the story line may be a little more detailed with a more developed
language content. The characters themselves are likely to be older reflecting
developments in the listeners' own life
- 6 and over
Whilst keeping to our aim of moving the listener to a restful state,
the stories for slightly older children are more mature in content and
language.
Style and Content
We only use positive images and language in our stories and have avoided
anything scary . There are no niggly naggly arguments or monsters under
the bed. The stories and songs are without fear or challenges. We aim
to make the pre-sleep stage as calm and restful as possible and all that
is required is a willingness to listen and let the other senses
switch off.
Our Sleep Poem book
Our sleepy dreamy collection of 23 original poems for you to enjoy reading
to your child, is available as an ebook which you can instantly download
and print if you wish.
The poems have certain ingredients of Sounds Dreamy magic to guide your
child to a relaxed and peaceful sleep... these include...

Rhythm – our bodies and minds
function based on rhythmical patterns…breathing , pulse, heart
rate and brain wave patterns. Through speaking in a rhythmical way
and then progressively slowing that down, we help the body and mind
to slow down too…everything relaxes, unwinds…breathing
becomes slower, pulse rates calm, muscles ease, foreheads soften…and
sleep comes much more easily. |
|
Repetiton – is a gentle signal
to help the mind switch off and let go. |
|
Pace and Tone - the Sleep Poems are
designed to be read at a very slow pace. They start off slowly and
get…even… slower…with each word being read softly,
slowly and gently, with some flowing pauses in between the lines…
as if the words are a warm soft blanket which the listener is wrapped
up in snugly, and relaxes into sleepily. |
|
Positive Language – is used to
create a supportive, embracing atmosphere for the moments before sleep.
This encourages the body and mind to let go more easily and so leads
to a quality of sleep which is deeper, more nourishing and restorative. |
|
Progressive relaxation – is something
we often use. This is wonderful way to help each part of the body
relax. As the sleep poem guides the listener
to let go of any tension…
it
might start by focusing on the head… Mmm…feel
warm relaxation there… take that
feeling down into the neck and shoulders… let
it flow down into the chest and tummy… Mmm
breathe out any tension… and
feel…gentle relaxation filling you.. let
it flow down through your legs
and into your feet…
Mmm
feeling so relaxed and happy…
